Peter's Pony. Midland School.

Boarding schools have lives of their own. Students and staff arrive, and leave after a time. Kids are raised there, and some even get born. In rare cases, people depart.

This is Peter's Pony. A memorial sculpture for a student who did not graduate from Midland as he lost his life in a accident. I could not but be impressed by the way his community commemorates him.

Curriculum design (in 40 min.)

Today at the Mastery Transcript Consortium workshop, we were asked to create a rubric for Communication and Empathy with someone with perspectives different from our own.

Time given: insufficient.
Complexity: slightly better than Global Warming
Output: poster
Group size: 2-3

I drew a line over writing the entire rubric on a poster – people never read poster text. A natural alternative was to capture the seminal points in a picture. While the result resembles kindergarten drawings, it fulfills the purpose. While I was creating it, I realised how I was inspired by my (former and current) colleagues Lisa and Ľubka.

The Universe sometimes wants to prove a point. Today, we were given the time to look at our posters at the end of the session, and people actually read them:)
